Careers Overview
As one of the country’s leading specialist referral dental practices we offer specialist Prosthodontic, Periodontic, Orthodontic and Endodontic treatments hand in hand with the full range of routine dental care.
At Devonshire House, we’re all about team work to deliver specialist dentistry with great customer service. We have continued to grow since opening well over 100 years ago and welcome patients from a wide geographical area and now provide dentistry at two sites. Our main practice located near Addenbrooke’s hospital houses eleven surgeries and is where the majority of our team are based. Three further surgeries are located at our out of town satellite practice just three miles away.
As well as providing specialist dental treatment we support fellow dental colleagues with education and training together with technical support from our full service dental laboratory.

Yes, as a Specialist Dental Practice it goes without saying that dentistry is the heart of our business and the majority of our team work in clinical roles. However, as a large practice with a team of over 80 people, our practice is structured with it’s own independent business functions requiring a cross section of skills.
As a provider of Specialist Dentistry, Dental Education and with our own Dental Laboratory, a career at Devonshire House means joining any one of our teams, with lots of opportunity to progress. You can even change direction completely into a different function if that’s in your sights. We have receptionists who have become financial controllers, nurses who have retrained as Hygienists and many of our Managers have progressed their careers with us starting off in non managerial roles.
We strongly value the importance of training at Devonshire House and encourage and support our team in their personal development. If you have a strong interest in a particular training area or a specific training need we’re right behind you all the way. Training at Devonshire House is ongoing and we use a mix of online and face to face courses with visiting specialist trainers and our training and development continues daily as we mentor each other sharing our knowledge and experience.
All new team members have a personally designed induction programme to introduce them to as many areas of the practice as possible. Feeling part of the team from day one is important and by putting names to faces and learning how the practice works is of paramount importance.
Online training via Agilio Dental ILearn
Our practice subscription to the online training website Agilio Dental ILearn (formerly Isopharm) provides everything that you need to comply with Enhanced CPD from the GDC and allows you to keep your skills up to date in the recommended topic areas as well as choosing any additional training areas of interest to you.
Specialist training
Our annual Immediate life support and medical emergencies and emergency life training is always good fun as we have an excellent trainer who we have been using for many years. We also use external trainers for our radiation update and CBCT training and follow all of the recommended training as suggested in the dental guidance notes.
Devonshire House was established in Cambridge in 1904, giving us over a hundred years of experience in providing the highest quality dental care by our team of specialists who are supported by a highly experienced team. Every speciality is present at Devonshire House for in-house referrals – Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Endodontics. We also have the support of Consultant Anaesthetists for in-house sedation.
Over the years we have continually invested in the best equipment and technology, and continuing development of our people, to build a great team that helps us maintain our award-winning status and position amongst the leading dental practices in the country.
In addition to our 14-surgery specialist practice, we have an on-site, full service, digital laboratory, which offers fixed and removable appliances.
We accept patients for general care and also receive a high volume of referrals ranging from straightforward to complex cases.
As a large specialist practice with a team of over 30 nurses, there are a variety of roles to suit your skills. Whether you would like to nurse with a Specialist Dentist, take scans, teach as part of our education programme, work in our steri-room, or join us as an apprentice, if you are passionate about dentistry we would love to hear from you.
Due to ever changing technology and developments in dentistry, there are plenty of opportunities to progress your career in our growing lab team of highly skilled technicians at our purpose built full service lab. Whether you specialise in prosthetics or crowns and bridges, or would like to get more involved in digital workflow as a CAD CAM technician there is always something new to learn.
As a receptionist and patient advisor at a busy specialist practice your main role will be to welcome and assist patients. Whether you meet and greet patients as they arrive, work on the desk as a patient advisor, join us as a customer service apprentice, or fulfill more of an administrative position, there are a variety of roles in our reception which may suit your skills.
